________________________________________________________________ TreePrint, Version 1.0 Copyright (c) 1999 Ziff-Davis, Inc. Written by Steve E. Sipe First Published in PC Magazine, US Edition, October 19, 1999, v18n18 http://www.pcmag.com/utilities/ ________________________________________________________________ PLATFORMS: Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4 DESCRIPTION: Remember the old DOS program TREE.COM? It displayed the directory and file structure, and you could pipe the output to a file or printer. TREE.COM was never updated to support long filenames, and it disappeared with Windows 95. This issue's utility, TreePrint, is a replacement for TREE.COM that you access from within Windows Explorer. Right-click on a folder or drive and use the TreePrint menu to print the directory tree or save it to a file, starting at that point. Options let you control the number of levels, the amount of indentation for each level, whether to include filenames, and whether the tree is sorted alphabetically. TreePrint is especially useful for documenting the contents of archive media such as CD-Rs. REVISION HISTORY: Initial release. INSTALLATION: To install TreePrint, run tpsetup.exe, a self-extracting installation program. The installation process copies three files (treeprt.dll, treeprt.hlp and treeprt.cnt) to the Windows System directory. It also creates registry entries that associate TreePrint as a shell extension to Windows Explorer. Once the installation is complete, you can access TreePrint's features by right-clicking on a drive or folder in Windows Explorer. To uninstall TreePrint, use the Add/Remove programs applet in Control Panel. For details on program operation, refer to the program's online help file.
